 The Award

Each Residency Award consists of:

• 2 free studios at Bon Volks, Margate

• Free accommodation

• Opportunity to exhibit, perform or create public events in the Bon Volks Project Space

• £250.00 of materials, courtesy of CassArt

Duration of each Residency

Between 4 and 6 weeks, dependant on needs of applicant

Who we are looking for

We welcome applicants who can display a keen dedication to their practice and clarity of proposal.

We welcome applications from individuals who would like to propose a specific project for the duration of the residency or those who would like to use the time to develop existing work for an exhibition or event. 

We encourage practitioners of all types to apply. To date, our Residency Studios have been used by a variety of practitioners -  as a writing space, planning space or making space.

The Project Space is offered free to each successful residency, but it is not critical that it be used as a part of the application.

We recommend that applicants who intend to use the Project Space as part of their application, study the floorplan here

All we require from each applicant is that they give one public talk or event at some point in the duration of their residency.

The award is for a single artist. Those who collaborate and wish to apply as a pair - we can not provide accommodation for more than one individual, but would be happy to support a funding bid to provide accommodation for the second applicant.

How to apply

Please apply by emailing the following:

• An overview of your practice (up to 500 words)

• Your proposal for use of the residency ( up to 1000 words)

• Proposed duration of project

• Up to 10 images

• How you found out about the Residency

Applications should not exceed 10MB in size

Fee

Each application requires a fee of £15.00.

As a non-profit organisation, this fee contributes to the administration and running of the residency programme, in concurrence with our fundraising and funding support.

Financial Support

The residency programme is financially supported by our funding partners and fundraising.
Bon Volks provides studios space, off-site accommodation and exhibition space, free of charge.
Unfortunately we cannot pay a fee or provide travel expenses

Limitations

Due to the size of the residency studios, we feel that those who work on a large scale or with industrial materials, would not be suitable for the residency. Please refer to floor-plan below for dimensions of the studios.

Similarly, the residency studios are on the first floor, without lift access.

The Judges

The applications will be judged by a panel of Bon Volks Members
